Growing up, Melody witnessed her grandma’s difficult battle with hepatitis, which she unknowingly contracted decades ago when she was living in rural Asia due to the lack of health awareness and medical resources there. Her journey opened Melody's eyes to the healthcare disparities that exist across different communities as well as the importance of public health education. Melody wanted to do her part in advocating for these communities and assisting with their needs so no one else had to suffer what her grandma went through, so she was inspired to learn as much about public health as she could and take action starting from her local community.
